Zoom audio, microphones

This is what you need to do to make Zoom work for music lessons.

You can adjust the settings in the home page of Zoom, or on the screen of the Zoom call itself.

To find the Audio settings: Click on the daisy wheel on the home page.
OR Click the arrow next to the microphone symbol in the screen of the Zoom call.

Audio settings:
– Microphone – Turn off ‘Automatically adjust volume’

Advanced audio settings: (next screen)
– Tick ‘Show in-meeting option to “Enable Original Sound” from microphone’
– Disable ‘Suppress Persistent Background Noise’
– Disable ‘Suppress Intermittent Background Noise’

When you are in the Zoom call, in top left-hand corner there will be a blue box saying ‘Turn off original sound’. If it says ‘Turn on original sound’ change it to ‘Turn off’ because we want the original sound.

Remember to adjust the audio settings back for spoken meetings, and thank you.

Using an external microphone for your computer greatly improves the sound at my end and this makes for a better music lesson.
